At least its complete. the hard part of many projects is finding any missing parts. Obviously. the carb will need to be rebuilt. Gas tank is probably rusted on the inside and will need to be Kreemed. Brake fluid in the MC will look like a hockey puck.

For real, finding parts for that woulda been mission impossible, the gas tank is gonna be the first thing i do, theres old gas in it that has transformed into this funky tary substance... After that i think im gonna work from the engine up...i cant wait to hear it run

Honda sold millions of XL/XR motorcycles in the US. Finding parts should you need them should not be a problem. Good luck with the resto and holla if you need help.

What year is your bike? I just looked at BikeBandit and most of the parts are available, not all. You can also try RonAyers.com or locally, you might try Willies Cycles in Camp Hill, Alabama.

Looks like a '75 model. Check the steering tube - there should be a date of mfg stamped into the tube.

You should totally take it out to the next bike night... (without it being in the back of a truck, that is)

Here is a 1974 Elsinore MR50 that I restored last year. They only made this bike for 2 years so parts were tricky to find but i had good luck on ebay and on re-mx.com they only sell parts for old honda's. re-mx.com is the place to find gasket kits, piston and ring kits ect.good luck and if you have any questions or need help hit me up.

Thats awsome man, good job restoring it, looks brand new...2 stroke?

i cant really afford to buy new parts for my xl since i spent a crap load on getting my bike track ready, wrecking it then fixing it back, so im just gonna have to try to clean up and use the old 1's....so far ive took off the gas tank still trying to clean out the inside of it, and pulled the carb took it apart and soaking it in cleaner

i keep stripping these old @$$ skrews on the bike and am having a time tryin to get em off haha

yea there a pain. You can take a dremmel tool and cut a slot in the heads so you can get them out with a flat head.you can also take a hammer and tap the heads of the screws before you try to remove them. And all the ones you have striped or cut with a dremmel replace.i got all mine at lows just take the old ones with you to match thread and lenght and they are realy cheap.

If you can find a good source for classic Honda parts, my dad has a 1976 Honda CB400Four that we would like to restore.
